The Life of a Simple Girl

I am from a mother who was told she couldn't have any children.
A childhood that gave me a sense of humor,
A sense of kindness and caring.
I am from bath soap washing away all the stresses of the past,
The warm touch a parent gives a newborn child.
I am from jokes of all kind,
Even the occasional whine.

I am from the burning sun in the sky,
From its awakening to its good-bye.
I am from the moon and the stars,
The glistening, calm waters of this earth.
From the beginning of time, to man kind's birth.

I am from every accomplishment,
Every mistake,
And every chance that i will take.
Listening and learning,
Laughter and warmth churning.

I am from the smell of steak from the grill,
The potatoes from the oven,
From the green beans in the microwave.
I am from home cooking's warm lovin'.

I am from the chilling chill running down my back,
On a cold winter's night.
I am from the mystifying white snow,
Slowly melting away, but with a big glow.
Soon to come, the warmth and birth of spring.

  2. This is a great poem! I love the title, and my favorite line has to be "I am from the moon and the stars, the glistening, calm waters of this earth. From the beginning of time, to man kind's birth." I thought that had a great sound to it; the rhyme at the end is a great touch. this is a wonderful poem! (:
